Me and my best friend have been best friends for about 2 years. I have no doubt in my mind that we became best friends based on platonic feelings. But will a guy continue to be best friends with a girl if he has no intention of taking anything any further? Most people who know us/meet us think that we're a couple already, so is he giving off signs that I can't see? I'm just wondering if romantic feelings can develop, and should I go with it if that seems to be the case? I am in love with him, but I don't want to ruin anything between us.

To clarify further, it's not as if we're just friends in a group of friends. We share everything with each other. And he's told me before he thought about it, but that he didn't think we were like that. That was a year and a half ago. I'm just wondering if things can change. His actions and words seem to contradict each other sometimes.

Considering you're in the exact opposite situation, and wondering if the guy is interested, the answer is: yes he is.

Just to tell you, "I'm going through the same thing so I know how you feel"
Anyways, Yes, a guy will be your best friend if anything happens, it just that he has respect for you . . . If anything develops between you two, just sit down and talk with him that you don't want your friendship to be ruined if things don't work out . . .On the other hand, if they do work, then you will have your best friend around you all the time and "Being able to be with your best friend tops them all!" Just take it day by day and see what happens, you'll be able to tell if you guys are going to the take the next step . . .

He probably feels the same for you. People can see how comfortable you two are together and make those assumptions. I do believe that one day you two will be more than friends. A guy would not stick around that long. Don't rush it but always be honest with each other. Lots of marriages began as 'just great friends' and truly became best friends. I wish you well.

That's the problem - I lost many excellent friendships with girl by passing the line from friendship to be in relationship. Didn't work and I lost very good friend forever.
You can somehow provoked him to exposed his feelings, take the shot - or wait until his some/first move but it takes time.... and how long you can wait? is up to you.

Ofcourse, for most guys, thats not really possible, but it matters how old you are. Like, me and a good freind of mine, she moved to Pheonix like 2 years ago, I miss her everyday, but we're just freinds. If you've been freinds for 2 years, he's probally not going to ask you out, most guys ask before the 5 month mark.

possible.
if you want more than platonic actions, learn to listen to his words and actions. just be yourself and see if this is what you really want.
love is an active endeavor. not some supernova trance that catches us by surprise, as many magazines and movies portray.

yes, men and women can be JUST friends, as long as they've never been intimate, however, if you choose to become more and it doesnt work out, you can say goodbye to the friendship..so you just have to figure out, is it worth risking?
