well, I got mine like a week and a half ago and it's a dolphin too, (go figure). I can't say much about your age because I'm only 19, but maybe you should wait for a little while... just to be sure.
P.S. Mine is a pic of like 2 dolphins that make a heart, it's blue and it's on the front part of my right hip too. cool huh?

I got my first tattoo at 17 with my mother's permission. I'm 28 now, and wish I didn't get what I got. It's not that I don't like my tattoos, I have 5, it's just that I wish I had waited a few more years so I could have planned a better place to put it, and picked out something a bit more meaningful.
Tattoos are NOT permanent, they can be removed with a laser, but it's expensive and more painful than getting the tattoo in the first place. Tattoos on your lower back won't hinder an anestheisiologist in the least bit. The tattoo is literally only skin deep. One more thing you have to think about before getting tattooed is, is this tattoo going to hinder my getting a job later in life? If it's on your back where no one can see it, probably not. But if you put it on the back of your neck where anyone can see it if your hair is up, then it definitely might. Hope that helps and good luck!

I got my first tattoo at 17 years old. I was living in Germany and there they didn't need adult permission. It was an impulse and I kind of regretted it later. But now I'm addicted to tattoos(yes it is possible the sound of a tattoo gun makes me want another because of the rush of endorphins). Now though, I go to my tattoo artist and pick out flash(designs) that I like or design my own and then think about them for a long while. Just because you can get a tattoo right now, doesn't mean that you should. Just think about what you want for at least a month, remembering that you will have to live with that design for the rest of your life and that laser removal is more painful than the actual tattoo. If you still want it go for it.I do believe though that when they say "adult permission" they mean "parental consent". I have kept all of my tattoos in places that I can cover and you can't see unless I want you too.My first tattoo was one of those cute lower back tattoos and it didn't stop the doctor from giving me my epidural when I had my daughter either, but what would it matter because the pain of labor is just part of having a child.

I got my first tattoo at 16 too. What I did is get a henna tattoo (it only lasts a few weeks but looks real) I did this when I decided what I wanted and then after 2 weeks of looking at it and thinking about it I decided it was right. Give it a lot of thought. I got a Chinese symbol for love on my ankle and a tiny Hawaiian flower on my wrist, I don't regret them but I do wonder if I will still want them 10 years from now. Just test it out some how, whether is be a henna tattoo or a fake one for a few weeks. Don't settle for a design or picture because you are impatient. Make sure you know what you want or else you will just want another one when you get a better idea later on. Good luck and ask lots of questions when you get it done :)

Think about this.... at the moment a tattoo probably sounds really cool, but imagine what you would think of it when you're 80 years old and still have a dolphin permanently stuck on your lower back. I have to admit, i think they're really cool and stuff, but the fact that it's permanent scares me. why dont you get a henna tattoo, it stays for a couple of months, but then wears off, and you can make another tattoo somewhere else. But if you really want that tattoo, and you are certain and aware of th consequences, then get it. But NEVER do something that you think you'll regret later in life.

First, I have several, I love my ink and want more....now having said that.
Think long and hard about it, make sure this is what you want, and not what you see others doing...this is going to be a life long "friend", unless you get surgery to remove it you are going to have to live with it.
Make sure it is something that is meaningful to you, yeah you could get a dolphin or a panther, or whatever "flash" the artist has in their book, but perhaps think about an original piece that means something to you, something that is a part of your life.
Next, just like buying a house...location is everything. You are 16 now, and probably anything you get and anyplace you stick it will be cute or sexy......but someday you might just want to land that executive position, or be a nurse...whatever....you might want to thinka bout having it on a place that you can easily cover if needed..next, youth isn't forever.....if you can picture yourself at 70 years old with donald duck on your left breast...go for it, otherwise you might want something that will mean something forever.
Names.....the only girls name I would ever EVER put on my body would be MOM and my daughter..they are the only ones I know will always be there for me. so don't rush out and have a boyfriends name put anyplace, no matter how much in love you seem to be now.
having said all of that...go for it, have fun and warning, tats are like potato chips, its hard to stop at just one.

I have a tatoo too but you have to remember that it will be on your body for life, so if your planning on getting something just because you think its pretty that might not be the best idea, get something that is special or means something to you that you'll never regret.. never put a boyfriend or girlfriends name on you.. And make sure you put it somewhere you can cover it up if you have to because not all jobs appreciate tons of tatoos all over you body... and remember your not young forever do you really one a playboy bunny on your body when your 60 and got wrinkles think about it!

I would put the dolphin on the ankle of ur foot becuase there is research and fact that if you get a tatoo on the lower back, and you have a child, they will not be able to give u the medacine needed to stop the pain, so you would have to go through a lot of pain when in labour. I think that on the ankle would look really nice in the summer time and peopel will see it. Hope this helps!!

Remember what ever you get is going to stay with for the rest of your life unless you can afford laser surgery on it. If you get it on your lower back and you decide to have children you can still get an epidural because I have one and have had two kids since then. Really watch were you go to, go to a place that is clean and sterile and make sure you watch them when the open the package of the needle. You want to go to a place that uses the needles only once and not a place that just cleans them.
