I was treated the act way during middle school and high school. Everyone associated me as the "horse girl" since horses are my hobbie. I didn't have bad experiences with people though as far as teasement. Pretty much everyone wanted to ride or whatever.
yet, due to liability and them not respectful towards horses (they think horses are about riding. They have no clue what all goes into having a horse....) another words. They are naive and I would not allow anyone other than very close friends.
The only issue I had with it was people assumed that I was "rich" because I had horses. Oh well, that is their own ignorant assumptions.
Just don't let it get to you. It is your hobbie to enjoy and if others tease you about it, then that shows how immature they are. I imagine they have extremely boring and stupid hobbies themselves.
There is nothing to make it stop. Just carry on with your hobbie and say that you feel sorry for them cuz they are immature if they are mean about it.

I live on a big cattle farm in Ohio. Most people in my area have corn or soybeans. There are a few other types of farms but I'm in a little pocket of livestock farms. I use to go to a Catholic school where NO ONE lived on a farm. I only really knew my farm so that's what I talked about. Eventually, any time a cow or chicken was mentioned everyone would look at me. I'm quite patient but that just annoyed me. Later, I was obsessed with dogs to the point where I could instantly tell the breed of any purebred I saw. For some reason that was amusing...
Those kids will grow to realize you're an individual with your own interests like they have their own interests. I dealt with it until I went to a public school 5 years ago where everyone was from farms. I saw the boys about 2 or 3 years ago who were giving me a hard time and they gave me an apology saying that they were stupid back then.

I love horses also, and so does my daughter, and son. We have 3, but, only 2 are rideable. I wouldn't worry about those guys teasing you either they are jealous because they can't ride or they like you. I remember being told when I was a kid that boys only pick on you if they like you, same goes as they get older.
And, NO, it's not possible to have too much horse love.

Horses are better than people. Horses never make fun of you, they don't care if you aren't dressed in the latest designer clothes. they don't gossip, and they SMELL better than people! No such thing as too much horse luv! Tell your so called friends to get a life, a horse will never let you down.

Maybe you should take your friends horseback riding some time. If there are horses available for rent at a stable, maybe they could try riding. It could be that they just don't know what they're missing and might end up loving horses as much as you do.

I have this same problem with my sister, I love horses but whenever I say something about horses she goes, Why do you like horses so much? I always say I dunno I just do and she goes why there must be a reason. Now I just avoid talking about horses with her cause I know she will never understand and I talk to people who do like horses.

That happens to me too but what's to be ashamed of?
You like something that other people don't, but it's better to express your love then denying it so tell them, if you are ever in a competition with them on horses, you will whip their asses and make you horse kick at them!
