i m indian power engineer with keen sense of history, therefore i think i can answer you from a nuetral perspective:
while i agree with you that Britain had lots on it's hands i beg to differ that america has had no fair advantage.it had to fight a war of independence, set up a system(mark boundries, frame constitution:in short they kind of started from scratch and build a country, complete with roads, education, healthcare , posts, banks, industries, commerce etc.). and you may rightly take pride that your great country had most of this basic framework even before america existed. thereon what has made the difference is how the americans( leaders and citizens ) have shaped the future of their country: their choices, decisions and their actions. i believe every country is made and is driven by it's citizens. americans have made some brave choices , done some stratergic long term thinking, some smart executions (of stratergy) and have build some skyscrapers in the process. if there are some lesser number of skyscrappers in london that is because your forefathers ( i.e.all british) had choosen another path .but then you and me have this wonderful oppourtunity (and duty) of shaping our countries according to our will !!!
( we can put as many skyscrappers we wnt and leave the legacy 4 our genrations)

US has had an unfair advantage. But Britain is not the one that should be complaining. Britain has been exploiting the world like no body's business. They have exploited the Indian peninsula, South Africa, many African countries, Australia, Canada and God knows how many countries. You are forgetting that Britain exploited the US too.
Did you say Britain had to fight wars. You probably do not know that Britain even exploited countries like India that were fighting the wars for them.
So stop complaining.

Yup you are right. 230 years ago we were not even able to sale a boat across the sea. Everone hated us at that time because we ran them out of our country. So we were the lowest in tech and was hatted by the whole world to start with and had to pull our selfs up on our own without any support from anyone. I guess you are right. The US was given brains which not many others have so that is in a way an unfair advantage. But too bad.. We have the brains and we even learned to use them.. Not all the time but we do use them at times.

You ain't seen nothing yet, as they say.
For instance, did you know that with a U.S. government program, Monsanto and Dupont have genetically engineered seeds who's mature plant's seeds will not germinate? Each year farmers will be forced to puchase new seeds...from whoever controlled the supply.
Do a search for "terminator seeds", and read for yourself.
And don't sell your country short. Your politicians are just as involved as ours in creating this global New World Order. The U.S. government is a tool, not source. Look into the World Bank, and the Trilateral Commission for more details.
It's damn pity most people are so into the drama and rhetoric, they pay no attention at all to what is really happening. Most toss it off as "conspiracy theory", but when it's all DOCUMENTED FACT, it's impossible to come to any other conclusion. Unless you're just totally stupid.

When America first won independence it wasn't any better off than a Third World nation. For years afterwards the US avoided foreign entanglements and the British Empire was the preeminent world power. That really didn't change until after WWII. Only then did America become the superpower that it is today.
Britain's problems started when they embraced socialism whole heartedly after WWII along with the rest of Europe.

Somewhat ... but then so too did Australia, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and the other British settler colonies.
America just seized on its opportunity to replace the aging Anglo Saxon giant (Britain) during its decline right after World WarII. In 1945 Australia was poised to dominate Asia, Canada had the world's third largest standing army. Some people (America) saw the coming threat from communism for what is was and took steps accordingly.

The United States isn't the peice of Heaven it seems to be. Since it's creation,we've had to go thru so many social changes, some peaceful and others very violent. But over the years'we've learned to overcome our differences. We're still changing and growing, but we'll get there. And that's what makes us stronger.

If the USA has had an advantage by being economically successful its because the people of that country have worked for it. The USA has also spent a lot of money on defence and fighting wars.

No. We started from nothing and are still a young country. Britian has been around forever and basically ruled the world at one point.
Britian is the size of one of our states (okay, maybe 3 or 4) so you must give them props for all they have done.
