I would also suggest that you download free WinPatrol, which will show you the start-up programs when you start computer and you can change settings via this program to NOT start when you boot-up.
There is an EXCELLENT program that cost about $50.00 called SnapNPop Dragon that will help you speed up your computer immensely. It is download only, so make sure that your kids can NOT delete it. Give your kids a guest account ONLy on your computer - and you be the administrator account - and this will keep them from downloading other programs.
