Have been bleeding since Tuesday ( I was 6 weeks pregnant)when I was told there was no heartbeat. The blood is in copious amounts and up until today the pain has been excruciating. How long should I expect this to go on for? Am due to for another vaginal scan on Tuesday where they will check nothing has been left in my womb; or should I wait til I've stopped bleeding? Am moving on more emotionally than physically, purely to keep going for my other kids.

I was bleeding and in pain for nearly a month (it started bleeding less after 2 weeks though). I hope you get better quicker though.

Firstly I'm really sorry as this is one of the most horrible experiences you can have.
I was three months pregnant and went for my first scan only to find out I was having twins and both were dead.
I had had no bleeding and was then obliged to go into Hospital for well how do you say it (the operation to take away the baby)
I'm not a very lucky person as after this they realised that they hadn't taken everything away and so I was then obliged to spend another day with them to go through the whole traumatising experience again.
Mine was due to food poisoning.
Everyone says that it was God's will or it wasn't meant to be but I know that that is no comfort whatsoever but you will get over the pain both physical and mental in time.
I do think that your sort of bleeding could not be normal, just to be on the safe side go and see your doctor.
Don't let it go on, life I'm sure is hard enough at the minute.
Keep up your spirits and thank God that you have already been given three wonderful children.
I kept going because I have one wonderful little boy.
I always try to think that I am lucky compared to women who may never have the joy of having one of their own.
Good Luck and lets hope that everyone who has lost something so precious will again soon receive that wonderful little gift.

I know the pain can be awful! With my first miscarriage, about 6 years ago I was in pain for what felt like forever (almost 2 weeks)! When the miscarriage is in its final days the pain will lighten up- I would call your doctor first thing in the morning and ask if there is something you can take (pills for the pain), I just took over the counter extra strength Tylenol and plenty of rest, or if a D&C needs to be done. you can still get the vaginal scan while your bleeding, but I know during my miscarriage all they did was take blood to check my hormone level, I did this once a week for 4-6 weeks- untill my hormone level was at zero (well I also went this route because it was cheaper cost wise, the vaginal ultrasound was too expensive for me at the time, with no insurance) and I was about 6-8 weeks when I miscarried ... sorry for your loss and I hope the best for you!

Let them check on Tuesday. I feel very bad for you. A miscarriage is one of the hardest things a woman can go through. We moms are never allowed to be sick or depressed because we always have to go on for the kids. Try to find someone to take care of them and take some time out for yourself.
And go for the scan on Tuesday, bleeding or no bleeding.
My heart is with you.

Well it usually lasts for about a week or so. You should start to feel better soon. I know I have been there. I miscarried at 12 wks. Goodluck and sorry for your loss
Also they will still do the scan even if you are bleeding, thats what they did with me when they found out I was miscarring.

I'm not so sure the pain should be excruciating, unless they gave you that pill to help contract your uterus? i cant recall the exact name right now but i had that at 6 wks as well and i was sooo sorry i took it, that did create a lot of discomfort.
