Love it! But then, I own my business and am finally to the point where I can take some time for myself and my family. The nice thing is, I know I have money coming in even when I'm not working.
As for working to live... you're right, life is too short. If you can't make the time to find something you're going to enjoy, you're going to find that life is passing you by and you'll end up bitter with the work force. Take the time to figure it out and then get what you want before it takes a toll on your mental health. I too always came up with excuses as to why I couldn't find a better job or strike out on my own and I finally said the hell with it and did it. Best decision I've ever made... apart from marrying my husband.:-)

I just finished college a year ago, and was planning on going to law school. Once I started, I found I hated it so I withdrew. Now I'm looking for a CAREER, not a JOB. To me, a job is something you take to get by. I had plenty of jobs in high school and college. I want a career where I actually care about what I do, and feel valued for my contribution. But like many people, I don't know what I want to do. I don't feel I have any "callings" or anything.
When I was in school, I mostly worked retail. The only job I ever truly hated was cashiering. Very boring job, and it was tiring standing there all day. The monotony was driving me crazy. Every other job I've had (auto tech, warehouse worker, commissioned sales worker) had its pros and cons. I liked dealing with people and building a report with them, but found lazy coworkers and irate customers trying. I know there is no perfect job, but one where I get paid a decent wage while enjoying myself most of the time would be great. Somewhere where I could use my talents and skills. But time will tell.

My job is a means to an end. I do not HATE it but I do not LOVE coming in everyday.
I find rewards in my job because of the MONETARY, but also for the camaraderie I try to create for my team.
You sound like you need a change. Try to find the extra time each day to TRANSITION into a new job (five hours a week, start somewhere), just do not quit it might bring you down ever more. Develop a plan to get you to that NEW JOB. It will give you something to look forward to.........
Hey that is my two cents, if you do not agree with it, take the two pennies to help with the bills and forget the advice. LOL

I used to be a pharmacist and hated my job every day like you do, used to wake up nauseous every day till i left and became an computer professional (oracle dba) which i love, even when i am called in a t 3am i enjoy it as this job offers me career growth, and if feeds my problem solving nature in addition to paying well.
Remember you employ yourself not the company you work for, so you need to assign yourself the task of find another job and that should be the number one priority of all your tasks, keep doing the one you have good enough not to get fired but thats all and spend the time as if you wait for bills to get settled it will never happen and bills tend to grow and not shrink

I can't say that I particularly enjoy my job anymore, largely cause there really isn't a challenge anymore for me. Not to mention, I'm sick of the bureaucracy in the business I work in. Why don't I just quit? If only it were that simple. After 10 years in the industry, I have worked my way up to a decent salary. Not easy to walk away from considering that what I really want to be doing would mean a serious pay cut. With the cost of living increasing, making that leap into a position with less pay, but hire job satisfaction isn't as easy as I wish it could be.

I have to admit that most days I hate it, but like us all, I have bills and obligations that need to be paid - sooooooooo, I tolerate it and put up with a lot of crap.. Incidentally, I am currently looking for other employment now and hope to find something I can enjoy very soon.. You are right, life is too short to be stuck in a job you hate.

Pity Skorp; I wish life were better for you. I love my job. I work as an investigator in the Children's Division. I investigate abuse and neglect. It tears my heart out some days; others I want to tear my hair out! I hate the beaurocracy, but love making a difference in the life of a child who is being wrongfully treated. I take my job seriously, but have a great life outside of my job. Just remember Skorp, this job is only temporary! Something better will come your way and you will be a better person for it all. Loves and best wishes. Nana

Though I've had many jobs that I've hated right now I am at a job that I absolutely love. Right now I work in human services for a non profit organization that builds apartment housing for the homeless. Even though it definitely has its moments, it is very rewarding overall and I feel good about it.

I work Monday through Friday, 9-5 and I like my job, its just some of the people that surround me that makes me not want to be there. I will not quit because I need income. It took me like 3 months to find a job because I really wasn't trying like I should have. Honestly I don't like working. I like to vacate but honestly I have no choice because no one else is going to do it for me. Be strong girl hang in there because you are not alone.
