No, don't use anything hot! Do just the opposite. Put a bunch of ice on top of it. It will freeze and then you can crack it off. This works for getting melted wax out of candle holders, too: put it in the freezer and the wax will pop right out after it's frozen.

take a damp towel, place it on the table, and run your iron on low setting over the towel, it will melt the wax on soak into towel, for easy clean up. This is also a good way to get wraps out of the table tops also.

Try using a hair dryer on the lowest "heat" setting to start. You only want to "warm" the wax enough to "unstick it" and peel it off without ruining your wood surface.

put a brown paper bag over the wax and use a warm iron, the wax will absorb onto the bag. good luck.

dip a sponge in really hot water and wipe it off. The wax has to get hot again on order to come off. be careful not to burn yourself.

anything hot should work to remove wax..blow dryer,,hot iron and wet cloth..boiling water..

try to scrape it off, if that doesnt work put something warm (hairdrier).
