I seem the first one while I live in Texas, that where it suppose to happen at a small town there anyway they did have small road side places that sold baracube sandwich and plates.After, I seem the movie couldn't eat baracube meat for a long time!!!

it is based on a texas killer but is very far from the actual story. so i would say no it is not based on the truth and it is just hollywood made.

Look up a man named Ed Gein (sp?). He is supposedly who TCM and Hannibal Lecter were modeled after.
