You might have a virus that has infected your system restore points or the point you selected is corrupt. Try booting into safe mode, do s virus scan and remove any bugs. Then do a system restore. If that doesnt work...switch off any anti-virus software and do the system restore.

Hmm,happens quite frequently that one,and very odd to have a restore option that can fail..so what's the point.
Workaround: insert your xp disk and restart the pc. make sure you have set the bios for cd boot ok.
when prompted press any key to boot from cd.
You'll be offered several options: select "install windows"
it should then scan your pc and tell you that you have a copy of windows allready installed and would you like to repair it. well, yes you do.
this method will reload windows leaving all your files, programs and everything else intact and at the same time correct 99.9% of any problems you may have had including a working restore option.
you wont be able to restore to an earlier time than the new install but then at present you cant restore at all.

I'm not sure if these will help you but it works me... (try all or any of these)
You have SP2 right?
1. Try shuttin down more often, especially when you install new programs or make big changes ... to create restore points.
2. Try running Disk check up at start-up, do not always skip... it helps...
3. Try windows Trouble shooter and at the index, type "System Restore", you should see list of symproms there... easy steps and instructions to follow...
Well, Like I said... I'm not sure, but It should work!

dipopo is confusing you.. what you do is: turn off system restore.. restart pc pressing F8 then start in safe mode, administrator...do a FULL Anti-virus scan.. then you restart and put system restore back on ... if you should system restore and you have a virus, it will 'back-up' the virus and make it hard to remove.......

maybe it has not saved properly. Try using another date or system checkpoint.
