Guess he didn't see 2f2f either. Every one of the cars in that movie are highly modified. Plus its just a stupid movie. The cars weren't allowed to go over 80 MPH when they were shooting the movie.
And yes the charger was a monster in its day for speed and power and can still smoke alot of the cars around today, but your comparing it to a car that can slaughter anything else in its price range (YES, including the DODGE VIPER SRT10).
It comes down to the fact the the Z06 has 505 HP and weighs approx. 3,200 lbs. and the charger has 425 HP and weighs about 4,200 lbs. Thats a power to weight ratio of 6.34 for the Z06 compared to a 9.88 for the Charger. In any race the Z06 has the Charger hands down..
Alright maybe not the muscle looks race but any other race.....

The Z06, without question. In fact, even a six speed z51 corvette would smoke the R/T. The R/T is obsolete, down on H.P. and up on weight. Also, this is the real world. The vette, fat modern radial tires with traction control and stability control, easy to hook up and go like crazy. The R/t.....handful for most drivers and easy to overpower the available traction of the tires designed for this car. Picture the potential for massive fish tailing if the driver is not careful. Bottom line - R/T great car, old car...looking at the vettes taillights at the end of the quarter.

DUDE! Without question, THE VETTE WOULD SMOKE IT.The Charger is way too heavy to keep up, and the fuel injection on the vette is so much better.A real race would be the Vette against a Dodge Viper, that I would like to see,how about you?

both are very powerful cars, but you would have give it to the zo6 vette for an at least 120 somethin horse power advantage.

Apples to apples, the vette. If you modernized the Charger (especially the ignition), it 'might' be a close race. It's the weight, baby.
