Cabbage Leaves and a sports bra...Change the leaves daily or 2x a day and keep a sports bra on..do not touch the breast--when you wash do it gently so you dont stimulate it.--I never breast fed my 6 yr old and my dr recommended this. My milk was gone in 2 days.

hi,
If you do not wish to breast feed at all.
(Don't )express any breast milk .
Some breast discomfort should be expected and may be felt for a number of days. This is natural and will pass.
Eventually any discomfort felt, will cease. A firm bra worn day and night will help.In time ,all breast milk will cease.
Should you wish to bottle and breast feed, either express the breast milk into a container, (it must be clean e.g. sterilized) and kept in the fridge , use it when the need arises in a bottle for social events, late night feeds, etc. and outings .commercial breast pumps can be purchased for this.
A health visitor is the best person to ask for advice on the choices available for you and the baby.

It depends on what you mean. Do you mean how do you get it out of the breast, or are you asking how to stop lactating. If you're not breastfeeding because you drank to much or took medication, pump and dump. If you're trying to ease engorgement, hot showers, and pumping work. If you're trying to stop lactating all together, I'd suggest slowly weaning the baby off the breast. If you stop abruptly, you will be in a lot more pain.

I wasn't able to breastfeed, and I asked my doctor how to make my milk supply disappear. He told me that first and foremost, you don't ever want to express it. (Engorged breasts that are too full of milk can become very painful, and it's very tempting to pump it out, or express it by hand to relieve some of the discomfort and fullness.) If you do this, they'll just fill up again and you'll be fighting a lost cause. He told me to either wear a VERY supportive, snugly fitting bra, or what works better is to bing yourself snugly (but not so tight you cut off circulation!) with a very wide ACE bandage or two.

Wear a snug-fitting bra, like a sports bra, and do not express the milk. Expressing the milk causes your breasts to produce more. Just leave it alone and it'll go away.

I can tell you what I did because I got real tired of the pain, I took a hot shower and let the hot water run on my brest and after being in a while I started to run my hands from top to bottom pushing the milk out, and when I wasn't in the shower I got a wet towel with hot water and let it lay on my brest. It really did help me out not only with the milk but it is very soothing at the same time. Try it and let me know how it goes. Wear a thight bra and pads.
GOOD LUCK!!!

It dries up on it's own. You'll might have to wear pads in your bra for a few days after you give birth; but mine cleared up within the week.

it took me about a month to dry up...but i made the mistake of massaging my breasts and taking warm showers..that's a big no no! it will take time, and it will be painful. whatever you do, don't take any "dry up pills" they don't work, they just make the process more painful. nature will know what to do. :-)
