what does it mean when a man says that "a man is only as good as his words"?

if a man tell you he is going to do some thing and the he does it then he is a man of his word if he tell you that he is going to do somthing and doesnt do it he is a liar and not good

a man is only good as this word. think it mean.he would go only as far as he promise, not wanting to give more

if he lies, he's not a good man.
