Folic acid helps prevent neural tube disorders like Spina Bifida. It is recommended to take prenatal vitamins (they contain folic acid) for 3-6 months before trying to get pregnant because the spine is developed in a baby before women even realize that they are pregnant and start taking the vitamins.

My dr told me that the more folic acid I had in my body the better for me and my baby when I conceive again. Of course you don't want to overdose on it cause that is bad too. Folic acid has been know to help with conceive because it does something to uterine walls. Hope this helps.

Folic Acid does NOT increase your chances of a pregnancy. But as the first girl mentioned; doctors want you to comsume reasonable portions of folice acid for the develpoment of your babys brain. As far as I know, I don't think there's anything on the market or anywhere else that will make you conceive faster. It's all in the eyes of mother nature.

Doctors want you to take folic acid when you are TTC because they want the baby to get plenty of it from the very beginning of conception. Folic acid is necessary to build a healthy brain in the baby. I've never heard that it actually helps you conceive.

No, but it increases your chances of having a healthy baby and pregnancy. Folic Acid helps to prevent birth defects.

No, it doesn't help you to concive. Although, it does help the baby to grow and develop properly. Without the correct amount of folic acid, the child could develop mental problems or certain disabilities. It does not help concive, just helps the baby once you have concived.
