Such a document would be called an indulgence and pergatory is spelled with an "a". I could find no reference for that.

Is it your intention to indicate that Pope Benedict XVI intends to incite Christians to crusade against Muslims similar to what Muslims clerics incite their followers to combative jihad against non-Muslims? That would be illogical because Pope Benedict's consistent statements are against violence. His statements are not just directed towards the violence of irrational Muslims, it is directed towards violence in the name of religion.

As Robbie Burns (1759-1796) wrote,
"On Thanksgiving For A National Victory"

Ye hypocrites are these your pranks
to murder men and give God thanks?
Desist, for shame proceed no further
God does ne want your thanks for murder.

The history of the middle ages shows that there were a lot of bad actors heading up a lot of nations. The guys with the most horses, the biggest cannons and the best assassins usually rose to the top. The popes, including the Borgias and Sforzas, WERE Italian (Yeah, yeah, Vito, I understand. The Mafia doesn't exist).

Despite all this, the Catholic church, and other Christians, have become fairly peaceable, and we don't seem to have a lot of murdering radicals in our midst. And personally, I don't buy into the concepts of hell and purgatory. I think God is a nicer guy than that. Some day you may even find Hitler in heaven, but I bet nobody will be saying "Seig Heil".
