Chapter 1-The Locker

As i walked through the doors of West Hills Highschool i couldnt help but think of what i left behind. Just the thought of it sent shivers down my spine and tears started to form behind my eyes. I tried to get the thought out of my head and started to walk towards the office.
As soon as i got there the bell rang.

'Great. Now i get to be late to my first class.' I thought to myself. I put on the best smile i could and walked up to the desk.

'Hi. Im Katie Jacobs. I just moved here. I need to pick up my schedule.' I told the secretary. She took about 15 minutes just to print out a peice of paper.

'Thank you so much. Could you tell me where the..200 building is?' I asked politely. She stared blankely and pointed out the door.

'Right..Thank You.' It was such a big school. I had no idea where to go. All i could do was take it all in. After standing there for about 5 minutes i did my little eeny meeny miney moe trick and settled for going left. I wasnt paying attention to where i was going when all of a sudden i hear someone say something.

'LOOK OUT' As i turn around to look, right when i do i run right into a locker. I fall to the floorand dont bother to move. I just ley there with my eyes closed.

'Ouch' i said rubbing my head.

'Wow. Im so sorry. Are you okay?' A soft,gentle voice said. I opened my eyes and saw a boy standing over me. He was cute and there was something about the way he was looking at me that made me feel...different, but in a good way. I started to turn red and closed my eyes again. I couldnt believe i just did that.

'Im fine. If you dont count the embarrassment im feeling right now, or the little bit of throbbing in my head. It was my fault. i wasnt paying attention.

He laughed as he sat down next to me on the floor. 'You new here?'

'Its that obvious?'I laughed as i sat up.

'Well you definetly stand out. In a good way. You arent like the other girls here. And plus...most people who go here dont walk into lockers.' he whispered that last part into my ear kind of teasing. he laughed

i smiled at him. We sat there just looking into eachothers eyes. I felt something with him and i knew by the look in his eyes that he did too.

I cleared my throat and broke the silence. 'Im Katie. I just moved here.' I said as i took his hand he held out to help me up.

'Im Josh. I actually should get to class but it was nice meeting you.' He said still holding on to my hand.

'Yah you too. Uhhm actually Josh, could you tell me where the 200 building is?

'Straight down the hall and to the left.'

'Thanks.'

'No problem. So i guess I'll be seeing you around.

'Definetly see you around. And thanks again.' I turned around and started walking to class. I could feel his eyes on me as i walked down the hall. I couldnt help but smile.

So maybe this wont be so bad after all. i thought to myself as i replayed the last 10 minutes in my head. I smiled from ear to ear and continued to walk. Oh yeah...this could turn out to be a pretty good year.
