I'm not talking about evolution in the Darwinian sense, but in the social sense!

To those who answered this question with "god is neither male nor female" I appreciate your views, but I'm talking historical evolution here. Our history is patriarchal, from the stone ages to the middle ages, and to the present. That Eve was taken from the rib of man has informed many of today's "civilized" cultures. Women were once thought to be inferior, and their rights were non-existent. Most societies have progressed (evolved) in that regard, as well as in regards to child-rearing, work conditions, racial equality, and more. My question, then, isn't about what God is or isn't, but rather how would humanity have been/grown differently had God always been thought to be a woman? Had Adam sprung from the rib of Eve? Had She created the world in seven days?

God: the Best of Both Genders
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

In the biblical era men usually filled leadership roles. Studies have shown that even in modern English literature, reference to a male to illustrate a point is viewed by readers as less pointedly referring to a single gender than if a female were cited. I think the world would have evolved differently if men viewed woman as an equal and we were taught from a early age there is a Mother God and Father God.

If The Goddess ruled, and women made the world policy, the history of the world wouldn't be written by wars won. Women would cooperate with each other, and peace would be the norm. There would be no starvation, riches would be equitably divided, and the ecology of the planet would be a primary concern. Lastly, the idea of patriotism and divisions would give way to a global community. What a concept!

NO!!!! NO WAY!!

Women always claim to be soooo peacefull, but have you ever worked in an office mainly of women?! I would rather work with men any day. At least men kill, and let be. Women would torment day in and day out. Think of PMS by the BILLIONS!!

GOD SPARE US ALL!!!!

If God were a woman then this wreck of my life wouldn't be.
But God isn't a woman, he's a man; a man who enjoys screwing people and sitting back and laughing about it.

You seem to think the overwhelming preponderance of patriarchal societies is some kind of arbitrary construct. I suggest you divest yourself of this " woman's studies " perspective and educate yourself; scientifically.

"god" isn't male OR female....it's just a force....an energy. It's just nature. Not a personified being.
