the best wood for a sauna is cedar. it is rot resistant and will leave a nice scent.. using pt lumber will leave vapors and walking on it can leave residue..

Don't listen to the idiot above me. I've never seen a sauna that wasn't completely made of wood, usually cedar. You wouldn't want to put tile in there because it will hold the heat, causing the sauna to overheat and also it would get too hot to step on! Now, if you're talking STEAM room, tile would be a good choice.

All of the saunas I have been in have a wood decking type floor. I started to say cedar. But I think it might be teak. That's is the wood they use on sailboats.

Sure, Redwood would be the best, and definatly last the longest. 2X4's stand on their sides with a 1/2" gap in between each one.

Ceramic tile works best. Or Vinyl sheet flooring if you don't want that.
