He will stay on much longer than anyone anticipates I think. He wants to enact more laws than he has time for by his current timetable - nobody really wants Gordon Brown to get the amount of essentially unelected time that he wants. If he has a programme for government he will have to get himself elected on his own programme before he can really start governing the country.
In other words I think Mr Blair will leave in 18 months to two years - maybe not what he originally said but that won't be a shock to many.
Gordon Brown does not have a mandate from the British people but Tony Blair does. I may not like that but that's what people voted for - a Labour government headed by Antony Blair - they are not going to accept a totally different programme with a different leader without him taking that to the people in an election.

The labour party will try to sell the idea to the country, that now he has gone, he can take all the blame, and we, the party, can start afresh and brand spanking new.
Anyone who believes that, in my opinion, is extremely naive. The party is still full of lefties, feminists and the PC brigade. They will continue with their unpatriotic anti-male agenda.

Not soon enough, but when he does its time for an election. Not for Brown to step in by the back door.

I hope he stays there until they find someone just like him.
Liberals in the USA should take note that not every liberal has to be a coward.
Blair isn't one.
