I think that it would be hard for the human mind to be able to focus on learning longer than a 7-8 hour period. Lengthening the day might result in poor grade averages due to lack of attention span. If the day is lengthened, they should compensate by adding some enjoyable, extracurricular activities that get students moving around, or gives the learning part of the mind a break

oh.you had me scared for a minutee. You should not lengthen a school day because kids already hate school and some skip.Lengthening a school day would decrease the amount of kids in school (they would either just quit or go to homeschooling) and what kids stayed in school about half would skip and the other half would be miserable.

A big reason would be money. Most public school systems could not afford to hire more teachers, pay staff overtime, and feed the students another meal per day (longer hours would mean that children would be at school for supper as well as lunch).

if the schools lengthen their days then that would make the school year shorter and thats not going to happen because schools are slotted to be opened a certain number of days for the year so although longer days with shorter school years sound nice I doubt its going to happen.

You would lose time for extracurricular things like sports, music lessons, etc.

most kids have ADD and can't concerate more than 30 minutes let alone more than 1 hour.
