I have a new thirty gallon tank, with a canister filter, I plan on adding fish later this week, and didn't want to incur any problems.

if your fish dont look like they are struggling to breathe then u have enough oxygen

Just depending on the size of your tank, and the type of filtration you are using (Biowheel/HOB or Canister) you should not have any worries.

Which do you have?

thats right as long as the fish are not gasping then your oxygens good

You can actually see their gills moving if they are having problems breathing.

They move a lot more when they have air...wouldn't you?

I think they sell oxygen meters.

if they are moving very slowly, the O2 level is low.
