I had this problem with my complexion when i was prego also. I actually bought the tea tree oil line from The Body Shop, then i started a daily three step regime of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. It completely helped not 100% though your hormones are way to out of whack for it to help 100%, mine were anyways. i hope this helps and i know where you can get the stuff if you need it, contact me. mydograge_143@yahoo.com. Whatever you choose to do stick with it, the way the cleansers work is it has to bring out the impurities, its like starting fresh, if nothing changes in a few weeks (3-4) then see a dermatologist.

Acne is caused by a bacteria that lives on your skin. It never affects some people, and for others it's a nightmare. When you're pregnant your skin's pH balance changes a tad due to the hormonal changes that your body is going through. So the bacteria either can't create blemishes, or it runs rampant. I've seen a dermatologist for years, and my brother, the poor kid, had to take Acutane for his acne it was so bad; so we've run the gauntlet of acne treatments.
As for how I take care of my skin, I use Clean and Clear's Acne Wash everyday in the shower. I put it on a loofah face pad and wash my face. The loofah helps scrub off the dead skin and it helps to exfoliate; the soap is medicated to help kill that bacteria that lives on your skin and keep your pores clean. Loofah is not the poofy things you put shower gel on, it's made from either natural sea sponge or gourds. The pads are realitively cheap at the local supermarket, I think I pay a buck and a half for one, and it lasts several months. The face soap is about $4.
Now this is the soap that works for me, it might not work for you. There are a billion different brands out there that make acne soap, I'd suggest just trying them one at a time until you find one that works for you. You can't just expect it to work after washing your face once either. Give it a couple of weeks, and if there is no improvement, try a new one. Changing your diet isn't going to affect your acne. In fact, do NOT change your diet unless directed to by a physician. I hope some of that helps. Good luck!! =D

You need to change your diet, real clean and real healthy, plus plenty of liquids all day long.
Your body is trying to get rid of bad stuff...Start drinking some real juices, orange and apple juice, some teas and water. Stop eating greasy or fried foods, also eat less animal products that have fat in them. Mellow out on the spicy foods as well. Try to eat balanced throughout the day. Do not use face powders or foundations. Wash your face gently with a washcloth and a gentle antibacterial face wash. Wash your hands frequently.
If you continue to have problems, talk with your doctor, do not self-medicate during pregnancy. Remember, after the baby comes, maybe sooner, your skin will return to normal.

I am 36 weeks along, and I had the same problem early on. I had worse acne than when I was a teenager! I washed my face twice a day, and used Clean and Clear products. (The cleasing wash, astringent, pimple-fighting lotion, and persa-gel.) It helped a little, but once I got to about 6 months it started going away on its own.
It is very normal, and it will go away, and once you have the baby, it will be gone until the next one.
Good luck!

this is perfectly normal. I had never had so much as a pimple when I was younger, but when I got pregnant with my oldest, I broke out like I was making up for the years of having nothing. Almost everyone I know that has had a clear complexion has been the same way as well.
Congrats on the baby, and don't worry. It is perfectly normal.

It is very normal to have break outs during pregnancy. Its because your hormones are going crazy. Do as much as you can to eat a balanced diet and stress as little as possible. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH FACE WASHES because i have read in numerous places that certain things like salicylic acid and other chemicals used to treat acne can be harmful to Your baby. Just used oil free products, touch your face as little as possible, drink lots of water. and try your best not to worry about it. Your body is doing the most amazing thing possible right now and Im sure that you are so beautiful regardless of a few pimples...... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

It's hormones. All you can do is try clean and clear acne products, and stridex acne pads. Use all that kind of stuff daily. Being if this is your first pregnancy your body is just trying to adjust to the craziness. This may continue with each subsequent pregnancy you never know. Your pregnant and beautiful let no one tell you different. You're creating a life that's pretty special.

You might not be able to get rid of the acne until after the baby is born. You are right, it is your hormones causing the trouble. Wash regularly, exfoliate once or twice a week, and always mousturize after washing. I like neutrogena products and cetaphil is good for sensitive skin. Use a light mousiturizer and if you use foundation, try to get one that is water based.

For me I am the same way during pregnancy. The only thing that works for me is regular soap. I have tried every acne medication out there. (proactiv works too but it is PRICEY to use just for pregnancy) I know people say soap drys your face but it is exactly what you need when you have big pimples on your face. I use dial which is antibacterial. They have it in bar and liquid. both work well! good luck!

This is normal. have you tried Mary-Kay? I would try to find a Mary-Kay consultant. Their washes and creams are all safe to use. I had the same problem with my last child and it worked for me. The wash doesn't dry your face out. The consultant will ask you if your face is naturally oily, dry or combination of both. Congrats on the baby. I hope all goes well.
