I just don't get it. So many Americans luv NASCAR, but I can't stand it. F1 involves way more skill and NASCAR is just a bunch of cars going around in circles for hours. Is it the crashes ??? You sit there for 4 hours and someone blows a gasket, I mean come on. F1 is much more critical. I've heard that some people say F1 is boring, uhhhhhh,,,,,,, are you kiddin me??? Please,,, tell me your reasons for like this boring NASCAR crap over F1 Personally,, I also can't stand the southern accents

Keep in mind most of us ameericans don't like to think. I know you are football fan so am I, but bear with me here. Nascar is to F1 as Hockey is to football. You need to think and pay attention to F1 and Hockey more then about the others. The South doesn't like to think for themselves they need to be told how to think (republican).

If you think that NASCAR is so easy, let's see you go out and compete with those guys. I'm sorry, but it takes temendous skill to driver those machines.
The reason most Americans like NASCAR over F1 is the level of competition. An F1 race is many times over within the first few laps. One somebody takes the lead and takes off, how often do you see a lead change in F1. With NASCAR, there are strategy changes all of the way through the race that change the expected outcome.
By the way, I am on the West Coast and not from the South.

There is more passing during the the first five laps of the Daytona 500 then there are in an entire season of F1. Thats why most people with a pulse like NASCAR over F1. However I will admit that I do watch F1 when I'm having trouble going to sleep and for the wreck they sometimes have at the first corner.

Because the Yanks are so rightwing they can only turn left.
"NASCAR is a bunch of farmers driving around in circles."
- Eddie Irvine
Jonh is right, NASCRAP has only two races and 35 crashfests. If they drove a third of the season on road courses, I'd watch, and it's not like there aren't any good tracks in the US: Road America, Road Atlanta, Mid-Ohio, and Sebring among others.
And if some redneck says "you can see everything on an oval, not on a road course", then why not race the infield circuits at Daytona (the Rolex 24 runs there), Homstead, Texas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, Phoenix, or Fontana? They're all excellent tracks, even for hybrids.

Ummm, lets see:
1) Team orders don't exist in NASCAR.
2) In Nextel Cup races, at least 15 drivers have a chance to win every week. Does F1 even have 15 drivers that anyone can name?
3) NASCAR doesn't allow traction control in their cars.
4) Strategy is important in NASCAR. One good pit decision can mess up the rest of the field.
5) I don't have to wake up at 5 am to watch a race that would put me back to sleep anyways.
6) Because it takes cajones (and if you don't know what that is, I'm sorry, because you don't need them as much in F1).
7) Try driving a 3400 pound car for 4 hours in 120 degree heat with no traction control and see if you survive.
Now, can I get all NASCAR fans in the building to stand up and show your support for one of only a few sports where TWO balls are needed?!?

Speedway racing is the #1 motorsport in terms of attendance in the UK, so it's not just an American thing. Road courses are fine on TV, but if you attend in person the action is invariably where you are not. Do really expect folks in North America to set their alarm clocks so they get up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday to watch a 90 minute race that is often over in the first 5 minutes? As far as skill levels go, JPM will have the opportunity to prove his innate F1 superiority starting next season. I think F1 has to lift it's game when it comes to it's television coverage, and offer NASCAR style in-car digital packages. Video games have made sports fans more demanding, and viewers want the interactive features that NASCAR coverage has. My personal favourite is ChampCar racing, but to each his own.

NASCAR is to America what F1 is to Europe and the rest of the world. I have seen F1 races, but to me there's too much single-file and team order stuff. I just prefer Nextel Cup. I grew up with a brother-in-law who raced stock cars from time to time at a small speedway that used to be near where I live. I watched both F1 and NASCAR when they were shown on 'ABC's Wide World of Sports' and the NASCAR drivers and their style of racing is what I loved the most. 43 drivers going all-out for the win and the points that go with it. Three-wide, beating and banging once in a while, tracks like Daytona, Talladega, Bristol, Darlington and road races at Infineon and Watkins Glen...And NASCAR drivers, at least many of them, don't mind meeting and signing autographs for fans and making appearances so that fans can see them up close...and Nextel Cup drivers do a lot of charity functions.

The reason so many of us Americans love NASCAR is that that is what it is. An American tradition started here in the south..Formula 1 is European born with a lot of different drivers, most of them we cannot pronounce. I personally don't think that F1 is boring. I like most forms of racing. I will not go into the skill levels involved with either form of racing as I don't think that it is quite kosher to pe so prejudiced about one sport or the other. If you do not like NASCAR then don't watch it. See how simple that was. Oh Yeah. About those southern accents, Well, son, let me splain it to ya'll. MMMMM MMMMM Possum belly and black eyed peas!!!!

Well It is not just cars going in circles if you want to get techinical they are going in ovals not circles hello oval tracks. Enough about that. NASCAR involves team work. Like You pit crew working on the car in the pits. You go your spotters and your crew chief. I like NASCAR more then F1 because I prefer the cars in NASCAR then F1.

I think Your main beef with NASCAR is Your prejudice against southerners.
what I like about NASCAR is the variety of track's. f-1? running bumper to bumper through city streets. hell, I do that every day, it's called rush hour in Houston. in F-1, You cant race fender to fender(You would knock each other's tires off). it's not just F-1. I am also bored to tears with CART and, IRL. if theres an open wheel race on, I will just find a good crossword.
