if someone recieves social security for their dead husband in america and then goes to canada and remarries, will she get in trouble if she does not let social security know?

Laws tend to change and so with this you should stop in or call to make sure you stay out of trouble!

You have to report to Social Security your new name and address. I understand your husband's benefit check will be stopped. You can get in trouble for not reporting to Social Security. I know a deceased veterans wife check will stop but if you divorce they will restart.

I would say it was fraud. When you re-marry they have to adjust your social security because she is collecting her dead husbands. Then to top it off, she is out of the country. Oh gosh, not sure if I would want to put myself in that position.
