When you register a domain name and make a website does that mean you can sell things online using that name? For example if you registered a domain called "DoDeDa.com". Can you make a t-shirt with the name DoDeDa on it and sell it? Or what do you have to do for an online only bussiness?

Depending on your state and local laws, you may need a business license, a FEIN, what-have-you.

If payments are going to be made to DoDeDa you will need a fictious name permit. It is done in your county and has to be published in a newspaper for about a week. If the item is taxable you will need to be registered with your state to collect taxes. Some cities may require a license. Then there is the state and federal income tax registration. You may also need to trade mark the name since just naming a web site gives you no name protection. Your county will probably levy property tax on business assets which will be your computer. The details are endless.

Short answer is you can do almost anything with the domain name. But be aware there are laws that apply to domain names, especially trademark laws (ACPA).
