I've been told to say peh-can because a pee-can is a can you pee in. But how about you?

I say puh-cahn. That would be a "p" with a schwa and a "c" with a long "aaaahh" sound, and an "n" at the end. But many people from Georgia, Paula Deen included, say "pee-can" and they say since they grew the "pee-cans", they know how to refer to them properly. But that doesn't make *me* say "pee-can."

And the "can you pee in" bit is just some Southern prejudice--a lame joke at the expense of us Southerners. I'd laugh if it were funny, but it's just stupid. But people where I'm from say "puh-cahn", so that's what I say.
