Im an early teen and I'm want to play an acoustic song to the school that reall will wow the audience. What would be a good one? I can play most songs, wether it be just strumming or something as advanced as Stariway To Heaven by Led Zepplin.
I was thinking Johnny Cash- Hurt but I'm afraid in case I murder it. Any suggestions anyone?

If your playing to your school I'm guessing that some of them will know who you are and what your about. For example.. If your a real metal head for and you play James Blunt or Bob Dylan..they're going to know that isn't where your coming from. Pick a song for your repertoire that says something about you..that is a favourite of yours..and you have been playing for a while. It will sound good if your comfortable with the song, it will 'wow' the audience because they will sense that your really into it. Don't pick something new unless your really confident because nerves have a funny habit of messing around with your co-ordination!! I could suggest 1000 songs to you..but it has to come form within

Streets of London
This was always a good 'busking" song for me
Here are the words -you should be able to get the song on itunes
Streets Of London Lyrics

Have you seen the old man
In the closed-down market
Kicking up the paper,
with his worn out shoes?
In his eyes you see no pride
Hand held loosely at his side
Yesterday's paper telling yesterday's news

Chorus: So how can you tell me you're lonely,
And say for you that the sun don't shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I'll show you something to make you change your mind

Have you seen the old girl
Who walks the streets of London
Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags?
She's no time for talking,
She just keeps right on walking
Carrying her home in two carrier bags.

Chorus

In the all night cafe
At a quarter past eleven,
Same old man is sitting there on his own
Looking at the world
Over the rim of his tea-cup,
Each tea lasts an hour
Then he wanders home alone

Chorus

Have you seen the old man
Outside the Seaman's Mission
Memory fading with the medal ribbons that he wears
In our winter city,
The rain cries a little pity
For one more forgotten hero
And a world that doesn't care

People like it because they also sing along to chorus

i mainly play electric guitars. especially when playing out with my band. but when i do play acoustic guitars i play songs like behind blue eyes, by the who. or unplugged version of eric claptons layla. but i guess its really up to you. the only thing that matters is what style you like to play, and what songs do you like. you can arrange pretty much any song for acoustic. recently my band started doing (have you ever seen the rain) by CCR and thats an easy song to learn and sounds pretty decent on acoustic guitar. but like i said it all depends on what you like or know how to play.....

How about "If You Could Read My Mind" by Gordon Lightfoot? "Hurt" is a downer song. Or "Comfortable Numb" by Pink Floyd.

The itsy bitsy spider. lol

I think that you would be fine doing Johnny Cash... just practice.

And do something that people will recognize and that they can sing along with.

Good luck!!!
