just a wet cloth - alot of cleaners will wear down the coating on the hardwood floors (I found out the hard way)

Unless the hardwood floor is very old, it should have modern sealant and a polyurethane coating on it to protect the wood. Both of these coatings are very durable, and you can use regular household ammonia to clean spilled liquids off the surface. Of course this will remove any floor wax which may be on them, so you will need to recoat the floor with that.

Use a mixture of 1/4 cup of white vinegar in 1 gallon of cold water. Wring out a clean rag in this mixture and wipe it up. Then dry with a clean cloth.

take a rag or sponge, hot water, put it on top of the spill, then dish soap and rub lightly. club soda takes a lot of spills up too, anything else will eat thru the finish. then take a little lemon oil, after it is dry and buff up the spot, just be careful, it might be a little slippery.

use murphy's oil in warm water, i wash my hardwood floors all the time with this.

put water on it let it sit put your finger on it see if it is soft then take a towel and wipe it up just water and a dry towel no chemicals
