how do you do this problem?

A hockey team played n games, losing four of them and winning the rest. The ratio of games won to games lost is?

games lost: 4
games won: n - 4

games won / games lost = (n - 4) / 4

N games in total. They won N - 4 games. The ratio of won to lost is N-4 to 4.

To figure this out, you take n games. since you know you have lost 4 of the games, you would write that as 4/n using x as the games won, you would write that as x/n so, the ratio would be x/n:4/n


Granted, I haven't done this type of math in years, but from what I can remember this would be the correct way of figuring it out. Hope this helps.
