you're telling me that you are incapable of thinking of any ways in which science has been successful? take a look around you, how has science played a part in the development of all/any of the things you see?

Having spent the last four weeks around New York City and observing what appears to be an unusally large number of mutant human beings I am slightly more inclined towards the theory of evolution. The question remains as to whether the mutations are a result of a natural process or industrial waste. Whatever the answer is, science has successfully predicted or caused a change.

Try not using a computer first it is totally derived from the Quantum Theory. Then look around and almost every other electrical thing you can see is also functioning because of our understanding developed over the years by scientific investigation. Now when we look at the human condition then it seems as though science has failed us miserably. I mean we still have war, homicide, genocide, mental health problems, child abuse, ignorance, stupidity, pain, suffering, and that is just in the Congress of this great country. Just wait until you look at the Executive Branch of this Country's government. There you will find the real failure of science in controlling great incompetence.

Science has succeeded in providing a narrative about our origins and about nature that does not require the supernatural. This narrative is not fully complete, and it may be wrong in places, but it is now reasonable to believe this narrative over all others. This was not nearly as true before science. Scientific thought can free us from magical thinking and worries about the supernatural in our day-to-day life.
Science is successful because it continually touches upon, and is corrected by, external reality.

Do you think God invented the transistors in your CPU, the cathode ray tube (or liquid crystals) in your monitor, and the fiber optic cable that brings you the internet so you can ask these moronic questions?
The irony is you're probably sitting in your air-conditioned house, jamming out on your iPod, eating a microwave dinner, reading a magazine, and wondering if science is really all its hyped up to be....
