how many 16-17 year old citizens are there in the united states? this is for a debate speech about a federal amendment to lower the voting age.

Well, as of 1 July 2005 there was 21.039 million between the ages of 15 and 19, inclusive. At the same time there were 17.079 million people between the ages of 14 and 17 inclusive. These two numbers allow us to estimate that there's about 4.23 million persons 16 or 17 yrs old.
