Old mountains- eroded, tree covered, rounded, lots of soil covering and vegetation, not capped with perpetual snowy peaks.

Young mountains- tall, sharply pointed peaks, perpetual snow on top(usually), no trees, very little vegetation, often thier peaks are hidden in clouds.

The trees are older in older mountains and often reflect the area in which the original seeds first took root.

There are trees in the United States that date back over 100 years and afford us a look into the weather and climate changes during the life of that tree.

Besides being eroded, old mountains also have high amounts of vegetation. Think of the Appalcians in Pa. they are old eroded Mts. and are covered in lush forests, where as the Himilayians, still groing and mostly devoid of vegetaion.

When mountains form they are have high sharp peaks, but as time goes by they are weathered down.
