I don't mean bands, I mean ACTUAL lines from the song.

Songs from:

The Cure
U2
Ani Difranco
The Motion Sick
The Streets
Tori Amos
Lauryn Hill
Our Lady Peace

Depends on what kind of message you're looking for.

For self esteem issues I listen to 32 Flavors by Ani Difranco:
"Squint your eyes and look closer. I'm not between you and your ambition. I am a poster girl with no poster. I am thirty-two flavors and then some, and I'm beyond your peripheral vision so you might want to turn your head cause someday you're going to get hungry and eat most of the words you just said."

Acrobat by U2 is also a favorite:
"I must be an acrobat to talk like this and act like that. And you can dream so dream out loud and don't let the ba***rds grind you down."

Good relationship stuff with The Motion Sick:
"I lost half of my lovers by telling the truth; lost the other half telling them lies. Now you roll back your eyes and fall asleep like my grandmother did when she died. Sit back and just paint me a nervous smile and sigh with every muscle taut, and I'll never stop thinking about the way you were too scared to say what you thought."

"Turn the page on the day, walk away." -The Streets

etc, etc, etc. :)

Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

MAGIC CARPET RIDE

From the 1968 release "The Second"

Words and music by John Kay and Rushton Moreve

I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride
You don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free
Close your eyes girl
Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp
And so I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away
I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride
Well, you don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free
Close your eyes girl
Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind but now I see.
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come. Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

"In My Life..." Lennon & McCartney (Shhh Listen to the lyrics).

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more
