i have seen this film on tv within the last ten years. the film seems as if you are watching the tv news broadcasts as it happens. the earth is being contacted by aliens, which we interpret as a hostile threat, we retaliate, and the aliens attack us . cant think what the title was , there was no one famous in it that i know of .

War of the Worlds? It was originally written by Orson Wells, about an alien invasion. It orginally aired over radio, way back when. At the beginning of the broadcast they said tha none of the events in this were real, but some people tuned in after that announcement (they didn't hear it) and thought that it was an actual broadcast. A few movies have been made....

I think you might be looking for War of The Worlds by Orson Wells. It caused a lot of trouble when it was first broadcast on the radio because people thought it was really happening. They made the film about the radio broadcast. Hope this helps.

I have seen the film you are going on about . i actually rang my brother because i came home from shopping and it was on the tv and i rang to say we were being invaded !!!! he fell about laughing as he new it was a film ( he had watched it from the start ) However i do not know the name of it ! But i can tell you it is not war of the worlds as i have seen both of them , and it isn`t day of the triffids either , i will do my best to try find out what it is before this question`s time end`s .

Sounds as if it might be a version of War of the Worlds... I know there is a famous radio broadcast of that nature.. but not aware of any tv/film version...
Definately sounds like they are copying it though
