It's definitely a sport! You need muscle memory, ability to think and physical utilization of your body when bowling. I used to bowl professionally and get paid for bowling, but on the flipside, I thought of it as a sport first then business second. You don't have to be muscular to bowl, equipment is suited to anyone that wants to try, and handicapped leagues are there to even out the playing field so that everyone gets a fair advantage.

Depends... For the person who only bowls once a twice a year, and is just fooling around, no... But ask any pba player, and they'll tell you it is... Anybody else in between, ie, league bowlers, it also depends... You have those that go to drink the beers and just bowl for fun... and you got those that are really shooting for their high scores... So there are so many different levels to the sport... And yes I called it a sport, cuz I fit into the 2nd category of league bowlers.. I'm always trying to better my average and truly care about the game, not to get drunk...
So yes I consider it a sport, but to many its just a game... Truthfully i dont care what its called, as long as I get to play.

Bowling is a sport. Congrats on the score. My 10 year old son just pulled off a 194 on Saturday.

While I used to tease my friends who bowled over their fondness for the activity, having been on a happy-hour league for a season taught me that it's more than just throwing a ball at a bunch of stationary objects; it's the people you play with and against, the way the lanes might benefit you...or leave you wishing you never showed up that night.
It's a sport. I stand corrected.

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. I like it because you get to drink beer and socialize. Not as good as pond hockey, but still good.
