I would like to visit the civilisation which cultivated the great rainforests of South America, which disappeared before the Europeans went there. I cannot recall the details but we had studied this culture briefly in Great Civilizations of the Old World, and the interesting point made then was that Europeans had actually arrived at the tail end of a huge destructive wave and found the ruins of a once great society. I would dearly love to learn more

You're not really playing "The Time Traveler" game properly. You need to be MUCH more specific...
For instance...am I limited to just observing this time period, or do I get to interact? Am I allowed to take an action that could conceivably change history? Am I impervious to harm while I'm there? May I bring back any material objects? May I leave any behind?
Etcetera, ad infinitum.
Hey - I'm a SERIOUS daydreamer!
Oh, and...I'd visit ancient Egypt, late 18th dynasty, the court of Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Well, that would be the FIRST place/time I'd visit...

I would like to go back to the first day I went to grade school. And tell all of my teachers from that point on, that not only were they wrong about a lot of things. But that I never used 99% of the shyt they tried to tell me was important at any point in my life.
Also I would have batted Left handed. And gone to science class.

Medieval times, undoubtebly.
Simply because that's when things really started slipping into what today is like. The rich and poor, the work, the wars, etc.
It's somewhat like the very first inkling of organization for the modern world, though still very different.

Renaissance period.
The early creation of art, poetry, architecture; just to be there to witness it all would be awesome.
On a serious note, I'd probably like to head back to where my Dad first met my Mom=)
I think to just see how both my parents were when they were younger is great too.

Restoration to early/mid 18th C in Britain so I could meet some of the writers who lived then and experience what influenced them.
