The average house has a TV, a phone, and soon a computer. The average person has no idea how these things work. What is happening? Shouldn't people who are so depandent on cars be able to know at least a little bit how they work? Or how a TV works? What happens if POOF! All the smart people are gone, and no one knows how to make these things anymore. What would we do? This computer I'm on right now, typing this question; I'll bet only about 10% know how to make one, or how it works. Does anyone know how to make a lightbulb? (Not how they work, because they are just a vacuum of glass with a filiment in it which lights up when a current is run through it; but how to make one? With glass and equipment and stuff). I don't know how my iPod works, or how my computer works, or how my car works, or how a rocket ship works. Shouldn't we at least know how our every-day items are doing what they do? Studies show that 86% of all houses have a refridgerator, and that only 14% know how they work.

Bleeding heart liberals. Our parents had it right. Contrary to the Hillary Clinton tree hugging fan club, it DOES NOT take a village. It takes a government who understands self reliance and to tax at non confiscatory rates. It takes responsible parents who take responsibility and know how to say no. It takes self reliance on a job and live well lived not drugs and illicit activity and it takes the understanding that, contrary to the Lyndon Johnson new deal welfare state, it takes the ability to understand there is in fact no such thing as a free lunch. As long as political correctness survives were all dead. Consider Morgan Freeman's statement. United ***** college, Miss Black America, Black Cultural events, etc. etc. are not the solution but infact are part of the problem. WE all need to learn to move on and take account for ourselves

The world worked perfectly well with horses instead of cars, no phones, no computers, no TV.
We had the Egyptian civilisation, the Romans, the Greeks and the Italians. They produced great and lasting works of art (better than Tracey Emin's dirty bed, I believe!)
The only real advance is that medical science now allows us to live longer and perhaps more healthy lives.
So?
This is called progress. But it does not mean everyone knows how to transplant a heart or a kidney or do brain surgery.
There will always be experts in various fields, and I don't really see the point of knowing how to make a computer. I was very happy with a portable typewriter for forty years, and even a pencil and pad of paper. Or should I say papyrus?

Yes Im sure theres gonna be no one to know how computers work when
1. If they are being made, I think they know how they work
2. Documentation
3. The number of people graduating with IT (information technology) degrees is outragous
4. You're an idiot
Studies show that 99% of the people on Yahoo Answers think you should just leave right now
You are expecting too much out of people. I mean for christs sake, the average American knows one language.
If everyone knew how all of their household items worked, they would realize it would be cheaper to build them, this will happen, thousands of businesses would go bankrupt, and POOF, we have ourselves a major economic problem.

just think about your question for one minute. imagine everybody in this world knows everything there is to know of what they've got such as phone, tele, comp, etc.. the list goes on.
there'll be no business, no trades, no industry at all coz everybody will fight for rights to make them and everything will joust for position to get materials, and stuff to make these things. the world will be in chaos.
everybody has a part to do in this world of ours, that's how God intended it to be. that's why we've got different minds for different things so we could all work together.nobody is perfect so nobody will have the knowledge bout everything.

well, i dont know if we should know how things work, because then alot of people would lose their jobs. if that would happen, the economy would then crash and money would start to lose its value. its just one of those things. if i knew how to build a laptop, and so did everyone else, i wouldnt need to buy one, and neither would anyone else. so that would put the lap-top makers out of business, which would also put all the accessory makers out of business, which would then eventually crash the stock market somehow. i dont know. do you see where im going with this?
