A woman cannot be the next pope...the Catholic religion is patriarchal and disrespectful of women.

it wouldn't make a diiference......even if a woman became the next pope, the Vatican would find a way to restict the authority that she would have considering the fact that the position of pope is one of the highest positions on the globe. By the time the Vatican's through with making up new rules about what the new female pope can and cannot do (just like they can make up so many man made traditions and stick them in the bible like they've done for centuries), she would be no more than a regular nun...

Whoa.... But, here in American we have not yet had a woman president. Don't you think your question would be wiser if it pertained to America, since you are an American? The president affects you for more than the Pope does. You are totally out of context, for the Catholic Church doesn't even have women priests. Robert, wake up.

A woman is not eligible to be pope according to Roman Catholic Law, also called Canon Law. Interestingly enough, any Adult male Catholic in good standing with the Church is eligible to be pope, but as far as I know, noone outside of the Roman Catholic Clergy has ever held the position.

woman or man, it does not matter. what we don't need is anymore old popes, like our new one who is 79. it would be nice having a younger pope, one not so old fashioned. a pope who understands times have changed in we are in the year 2006.

there has been one woman pope so now they have a chair that has a hole in it so that they can check. paul said in the bible that a woman should not lead the church so i think they are sticking to that.

It's impossible. The Catholic Church specifically forbids women from becoming priests of any kind.

Are you kidding? The Catholics are stuck in the 19th century. I'm sure there is some kind of "rule" about it, although I'm not Catholic - just a guess.

According to some histories they had one already but the Roman Catholic Church has always denied this.
