any formal letter has the same format:
first, your address without your name in the top left corner
then, skip 2 lines
next, the date
then, skip 2 lines
then, the name and address of the bank
then, skip 2 lines
next, Dear Whoever, or To Whom It May Concern:
then, skip 2 lines
now write your letter; in between every paragraph skip 2 lines.
finally, sign off, Sincerely:
skip 4 lines (that's the space for your signature)
type your name
That's it!
you can use that format for any formal letter. just keep your spacing and your punctuation consistent and you're good-to-go.

Why would you be writing a letter for a bank? or do you mean that you are writing a letter to a bank? In either case, what is the thought that you are trying to get across? Who are you writing to? Knowing these things might help.

You need to give more information about what you are trying to say. You say "for a bank" or are you writing it TO a bank?
