If this is a white garment, you could try the bleach method along with a stain remover like Oxyclean Stain Remover, I highly recommend this one. Use the hot water setting on your machine and add in your detergent and a scoop of powdered dishwasher detergent. Yes, I said powdered dishwasher detergent, NOT dishwashing soap. Now, if the stain is on colored clothing and is a cotton, cotton blend, acrylic, polyester, etc, you can use the same method in warm water, NO bleach. Just use your regular detergent, the stain remover and the scoop of dishwasher detergent. Do not use the dishwasher detergent on any kind of wool, wool blend, rayon, silk, etc. I would take those kinds of fabrics to the cleaners. I use this method all the time and have wonderful results. This works especially well to brighten whites, doesn't harm the colors and is really good at removing other stains sometimes missed. I also would recommend you let the water aggitate a little bit before adding your clothing just to make sure you don't have any mishaps. Some fabrics will bleed or blotch with the dishwasher detergent but I have had it happen very rarely. I hope this helps you out.

Using a pre wash detergent like Shout is a good idea- if the stains have set too long, the salts from the sweat may have permanently changed the fabric dye. Better to treat them and wash them early.

Bleach for colored clothes and hit it with a really hot iron (if the fabric allows) That removes the odor... The bleach removes the stains.

give up now...it is not necessarily perspiration stains..antiperspirant..leaves terrible stains on my husbands cotton shirts and we spray them with Shout.etc. and nothing at all including scrubbing them, gets them out
antiperspirant is made to prevent moisture..so of course any thing I use will now break through the barrier

Never opt for bleach in your first attempt. they should always be your last resort. try soaking overnight in hot water and use the best washing powder you can get. is usually sufficient. then run thru a normal wash cycle next day.
