There is a theory that sea air produces 'ozone' which of course it can't since ozone only exists high in the stratosphere due to it's composition (O3). However sea air contains millions of negative ions which give out the feeling you get just after a thunderstorm or heavy rainfall. It gives a sense of calm and well-being which is the experience you're having.

It certainly is a most agreeable feeling and if ever I'm by the sea I love just to lean on the rail, look out to sea and let the overwhelming feeling of peace drift over me.

I experience kind-of the same thing, except when I'm looking at the stars. I get this huge sense of just wanting to go out there, and see everything in the universe.
