Scientifically speaking: You may feel this "longing" becuase of a past experience. Studies have shown that the brain reacts to some stimuli, such as the waves crashing, the smell of the ocean air, with either past memories or expectations. Usually these come from the subconscious and are not realized at the time, giving one the strange feelings of nostalgia.
As for deja vu, it is pretty much a strange trick, or lapse in the brain. It happens because the brain "processes" the event, then it hesitates and almost reprocesses it. Beucause of this little brain tease one gets the feeling that this event has happened before-deja vu! "It is like deja vu al over again." Yogi Berra

There is a theory that sea air produces 'ozone' which of course it can't since ozone only exists high in the stratosphere due to it's composition (O3). However sea air contains millions of negative ions which give out the feeling you get just after a thunderstorm or heavy rainfall. It gives a sense of calm and well-being which is the experience you're having.

It certainly is a most agreeable feeling and if ever I'm by the sea I love just to lean on the rail, look out to sea and let the overwhelming feeling of peace drift over me.
