Sounds like you need a better quality nail polish, I have never had this problem.Or just let the polish sit and settle a little bit after shaking.

Make sure the nail varnish is new and so thin enough. If it's gone a bit gloopy, try adding a little nail polish remover and shaking it a lot, this isn't as good as new but thins it for you a bit.
Then make sure the brush has quite a lot of the varnish on. For the first layer push the brush right down towards your cuticle before you sweep back up to the tip. DON'T go back over it, that's when the bumps will occur. Let the nails dry fully before you add a second layer - if you are impatient then this will definitely mess up! I know I'm not good at this so I tend to do the first layer then actually go away and do something else and come back to the second layer later.
If your nails themselves are ridged you could try buffing before you start to smooth them off a bit.

i start by filing my nails with a nail buffer. then i wash my hands to get all the stuff off, then i paint a coat of clear, wait a while for it to dry, then i paint a thin coat of color. then i wait a long time, like an hour or so, then i paint another coat, and so on. it also depends on the nail polish, if it is old or not. i dont think that brands differ because i have bought the cheapest nail polish there is and sometimes that works better than the expensive kinds.

I have this problem too, and from past experience, I find the less frost, the less bubbles, and the better quality, the less bubbles. Also, letting it dry completely between coats helps. Another thing I've noticed is that I need to stay away from fans (ceiling fans, etc. and air cond vents) while doing nails. The moving air seems to cause it to thicken up right on the brush! Good luck!

It may depend on the brand of polish you use.. What brand is it?
I use OPI or Essie and have never experienced the bubbles or bumps with either of those brands. Shoot as much as they cost they shouldn't have any bumps.. lol
They both go on really smooth and even like a professional product should.

Go straight with the brush don't go side ways or slanted or some funky way the trick is to go straight. And a good brand to use is Essie not the claire's or crap like that.
