Have perfomed Norton Virus check already - nil detected! But pages jump back to to last visited page, text gets highlighted without me doing it, when writing text, like now, the cursor moves to early text and messes up my answers, window minimised with no warning etc etc. Only started today, not sure if only on Firefox or not, or if it is my laptop that's the problem.

***** This is NOT spyware or Adware. ****

This isn't behaviour exhibited by malware

You have a laptop, the keyboard/touchpad is broken basically. This is very common on Dell ones when they get too hot over a long period of time, but happens on all models.

The jumping about likely means its the area under your tab, shift, ctrl or windows keys, pressing other keys whilst the broken keyboard thinks they are depressed will cause cell jumping, windows minimising and the cursor will goto End or Home positions a lot. The cursor/actions will also do things entirely on their own in a kind of "ghost in the machine" way.

EDIT:

Forgot to add this happens a lot, as user above said, if the touchpad has been lent on heavily.

Norton Antivirus won't find trojans or spyware, so try scanning for those. Ewido antispyware is very good, and they have an online scanner of you don;t wwant to install it. I also recommend Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot Search and Destroy.
Also, see if your sleeve is dragging across the touchpad, as sometimes new clothes can cause bizarre problems like this!

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

First go to f-secure and do an on line scan - the last one I did found viruses that Norton had missed.

Click the icon on your task bar at the bottom of your screen for your pointing device. On mine it's the Synaptics pointing device and you double click to change the settings. Tr setting that less sensitive.
Get CCleaner too - I think download.com will have that and scan for adware and stuff with that.
Also delete all your cookies and temporary Internet files.

Then reboot.

Clear your temporary internet pages, clear cookies...close down the web pages then open a fresh one. If that doesnt help, do a google search for AVG free download, be sure to get Ewido anti-spyware.I'm certain you've got dodgy active X or cookies.

maybe if you have more than one anti virus software they may be some thing to do with it. i hade madesafe on mine and didnt realise and i bought norton, installed it and my p.c just froze. had to ring manufactures and they explained it was because i had 2 anti virus so i had to uninstall madesafe. this might not be the case with your p.c. but just something to bear in mind.

Everyone I know, including nerds, admits that computers and laptops are.....UNPREDICTABLE.
If you are not really a nerd, call in an expert to fix it....it's the only way!

i agree with the other pirate i am sorry to say......

unless your screen is touch sensitive & it just needs a good cleaning.....your touch mouse is screwing up

but...to be on the safe side....run Adaware & Spybot...these are both very good programs
