what is the best way to sew on woven scroll ribbon?

the ribbon is like woven in three colors. i don't want the thread to show, but want to sew it on cloth.

I agree...but you do have to watch out when you iron or launder the garment....Those transparent threads will MELT!

Another idea is to make tiny whip-stitch stitches down the edge. VERY,VERY time consuming...but if you need to iron or wash repeatedly...that's how I'd do it.

There are transparent threads sold in the notions departments or at fabric stores for just this purpose that should do the trick.
