on programs such as eMule where they list the ping of a server, is a higher number or a lower number better?

Does it matter which server i choose to connect to, or will some files be available or unavailable on different servers?

The number you get from a ping is the time taken to get a response from the server in milliseconds. The lower the number the better. The time you get will be different for each address you ping.

Ping just means that the server is reachable. The ping times are relatively meaningless. Available upload bandwidth is what really matters.

actually if u trying to increase ur speed of ur internet i sugest tht way u choose to know it quite inefficient so it might depend upon the broadband of ur local service provider like which pack u have installed in ur computer ,ping shows only the packets not the speed ,the packet should not reach to maximum point if it reached then thre is some problem in service.
