You need to talk to her about it...Sit down and do your finances together...See what you have and don't have...I know this sounds bad...But do like an allowance kinda of thing...My husband use to spend spend spend and we didn't have it...So now he takes a certain amount each pay and at the end of the month you can get...But to answer the "red her butt part" You really don't have to go that far...Just talk to her and tell her whats on your mind and it will work out.

Have some respect for your wife man.She is not a small child that you should be thinking of spanking her.She is your life partner.Discuss with her your budget.Tell openly what's your income and how both of you should be spending your family income and your idea of saving for the future.If you both sit periodically and workout your family budget everything will be ok.
