Last night I started to have strong contractions, they were fairly regular. But it only lasted for a few hours. Since then I have not felt my baby move. A little worried.. any thoughts?

I don't want to scare you, but a friend of mine had something very similar happen. She was pregnant and quite far along. She started to have contraction (very stroong ones) during te night and she didn't do anything about it. When she went to the doctor the next day she had lost the baby. They said that even if she had went in that she would probably have lost the baby. You really need to have the doctor check you out. Even if it is the weekend you shoud go to the ER. At this far into the pregnancy you shouldn't fool around when it comes to any kind of pains. Good luck and I hope that you and the baby are alright. Also, my doctor told me to drink a glass of OJ and lay on my left side for a half hour, if the baby doesn't move you should call the doctor.

I would suggest speaking to your midwife or obstetrics unit at the hospital.

You are really close to 40 week so babys movements are really restricted if you havent felt anything after 24 hours i suggest going to maternity unit, or doctors surgery they will do a heartbeat check for you.

Also you can try drinking ice cold water, and then lying on your left hand side to stimulater blood flow to your umbilical cord.

Its not unusual for a baby that's ready to be born to stop moving so much due to lack of space and also they do conserve energy ready for the ordeal ahead of them(being born). Here's a tip for energy for you when your in labour -lucuzade tablets- I had really bad sickness when I was in labour and the urine samples showed really low sugar levels, the midwife was concerned if I'd have the energy to see labour through. My lovely fella rushed out to get the energy tablets and luckily for me my labour was a very quick 5hrs.Make sure you practise the breathing too,you soo need to.Good luck hope it goes well,I'm sure it will, just keep this thought with you, "Its what the female body was made to do,so you can and will do it!"

First, call you OB NOW!

This happened quite a lot to me during my last pregnancy. My doc told me to lay on my back in the floor awhile, not lot of fun huge pregnant I know, but that always got my little one moving.

Well the doctor says that the closer you get to delivery the less the baby moves. It reallyd oesn't have that much room left tomove.

Umm, if you are concerned call your ob.

Call your Doctor! If you have not felt the baby move in awhile something could be wrong! My sister had that happen and she had the baby the next day and it was still born. The baby had Spinal Bifida which was very hard on my sister! Please get it checked out Now!!

From what I gather, when the baby's head engages into the pelvis it becomes harder for them to make big movements, so it's quite common to notice a 'reduction' in them, where the reality is that they're just making smaller movements!

It's probably aslleep. try drinking some ice cold water or lemonade and see if you can make it have hiccups. You should also make an appointment to see your midwife to put your mind at rest. My fairy thoughts are winging their way towards you. X
