The Skipper's name was Alan Hale, he owned a Seafood restaurant on La Cienega Blvd. in West Hollywood during the Gilligan's Island re-run years of the '70's and '80's before he passed away.

His real name was Alan Hale. But the skippers name was Jonas Grumby. I can see why they called him the Skipper.
