Chavez Calls Bush 'The Devil' at U.N.

Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 20 - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took his verbal battle with the United States to the floor of the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday, calling President Bush "the devil."

The impassioned speech by the leftist leader came a day after Bush and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sparred over Tehran's disputed nuclear program but managed to avoid a personal encounter.

"The devil came here yesterday," Chavez said, referring to Bush's address on Tuesday and making the sign of the cross. "He came here talking as if he were the owner of the world."

Standing at the podium, Chavez quipped that a day after Bush's appearance: "In this very spot it smells like sulfur still."

I only saw a small part of it on the news. I thought it was hilarious !!!
I especially liked the way he repeatedly made the sign of the cross.
And.the comment of " smelling sulfur ".
Sorry, I just had to laugh!
Whether any of us trust Bush or not, he is still our president.
We may not agree with a lot of things he may say or do......but Chavez stepped over the line.
I'm laughing at him....NOT what he said about Bush.
There have been other things said about Bush, and I'm sure this will roll off off of him too.
PEACE !!!!!

I think chavez is a joke and a puppet for the other opec nations. the fact that anyone would be killed for talking like that about chavez on venezuelan soil is proof that the us is a free society.

I think he (Chavez) is schizophrenic. He also said Bush wants to kill him because he called him the Devil. I wonder if there is a connection between oil and Schizophrenia? They all seem to think someone is out to get them.

Very good. Hadn't heard that one,

Reminds me of when Clinton and the pope died and appeared outside the gates of Heaven. St Peter looks in his book and says "Right, Clinton in here, pope downstairs."

"But there must be some mistake." Protests the pope.

"Sorry." Says Peter, "You're name's not in my book." So the pope goes down to Hell.

Three days later the devil gets a call "Hi Lucifer, Pete here." Came the call. "Look there's been a terrible mistake. It should be Clinton down there and the pope up here. Send him up and we'll send Clinton down."

Clinton and the pope meet halfway,

"I knew it was a mistake." Says the pope, "I'm supposed to be up there meeting the Virgin Mary."

"Sorry pal," Grins Clinton, "But you're too late for that!"

No I don't think it's funny. Why should someone from another country say that about our President?
